Under the free movement of individuals throughout the Euro zone, UK citizens could live anywhere in Europe and vice versa without any restriction.  A lot of pensioners for example have retired in Southern Europe for the better weather.  Their ability to stay in that country is now uncertain as it depends upon reciprocal agreements being entered into with each individual State or with the EU as a whole.  Furthermore, the money that they receive will be less as the value of the pound has fallen. On the converse EU nationals currently living and working in the UK may need to seek to apply for UK permits to be able to continue to reside and in fact work in the UK.  This makes long term planning for EU nationals in the UK and UK nationals in the EU may be potentially very difficult.
